Gates India Technology Week, 3rd - 19th May 2016
Gates India Technology Day is a platform to showcase the spectrum of advanced products, services and technologies in fluid conveyance to customers. These events also provide an opportunity to engage in a close interaction with industry experts to improve and enhance the safety, reliability and upkeep of the customer’s hydraulic equipment
This year, Tim Saupe, Director, Systems and Commercial Engineering (Global Industrial end markets) and Paulo Pereira, Director Mining and Heavy Infrastructure Business Development, travelled along with Gates India Commercial team from Sales, Marketing and Application engineering to various key customers with a special focus on Excavator, Truck and Bus and Mining segments. We showcased our technological capabilities and innovations and how close partnership between Gates and the OEMs result in meeting customer expectations.

During this Sixteen day tour, the team visited, Tata Hitachi, JCB Heavy Line in Excavator segment, Mahindra and Tata Motors in Truck and Bus, CNH Construction Equipment, Milacron and Tata Steel in stationary equipment. In mining segment, Hindustan Zinc, Sandvik, Atlas Copco, Tata Iron ore mines, NCL and ECL were visited and our Hose Management System was introduced. All the events were well represented by the customer’s Management, Engineering and Sourcing teams. The Technology Day events consisted of Presentations from Gates on the technologies and innovations, from Customer on their expectations, product displays, shop floor tours and executive meetings.
A high light of the tour was JCB Heavy line, Pune facilitated the entire Gates team for successfully ramping up supplies for the various platform and excellent support provided by Gates in new platform development, logistics and service levels. It was a proud moment for Gates when the largest OEM in India placed on record their appreciation of the hard work done by Gates and committed for more new initiatives.
The Hose Management System drew lot of interest from the Mining companies towards improving the output of their machines.
The active participation of the customers in the discussions and the keen interest shown by them in the technologies on offer showed how the Customers valued these sessions and the trust they had in Gates to provide them superior solutions and partner with them in their growth plans. Valuable feedback was gained from the customers on their expectations on product, technology, reliability and service levels and these will go a long way to bolster out growth plans with Industry leading products and services.
Technology Week, 14th May - 16th May'14
Gates, India’s premier brand in Hose Assemblies and Belt Drive Conversion conducted a technology week from 14th -16th May at different locations of its top end users like Atlas Copco and JCB. During these customer meetings, the Gates global experts teamed up with local application and technical engineers to arrive at solutions to customers’ product issues. Gates presented its technological advancements with the vision of powering the progress by providing 100% Gates solutions to its customers.
On day 1
, i.e. 14th May, 2014: Gates team conducted the technical seminar on “New Products, Safe Routing & VEVA collaboration” at Atlas Copco, Nasik. Around 44 participants from all divisions including Design, Engineering, Sourcing & Product testing marked their presence. Gates Global as well as local team had a healthy discussion with Sr. Management & ADS Technical Team of Atlas Copco on Layout & routing for UDAAN project. Gates Team was comprised of Mr. Tim Saupe, Systems Engineering Manager- Worldwide Fluid Power Division, Mr. Joel Edward, Vice President, Worldwide Fluid Power Technology & Product Development and Mr. Rajesh Bhandari, Vice President – Industrial India.
, i.e. 15th May, 2014 was reserved to present Gates Technical Seminar on “New Products, Safe hydraulics, Routing & VEVA collaboration” at JCB Pune on 15th May. Around 35 participants from Design, Engineering, Sourcing & production departments participated and increased their knowledge on Gates technologies. A Routing discussion was conducted with JCB team on JS-81 new model.
, i.e. 16th May, 2014 Gates Team conducted Technology workshop at JCB, Ballabhgarh and the teams shared the best in class benchmarking. As a truly global supplier, Gates is working with JCB to benchmark its machines to reach same aesthetics, performance and reliability levels as anywhere in the world by keeping local conditions in mind .Progressive improvement in FPM, hydraulic cleanliness levels and prototyping capability to support new global platforms were discussed and is under implementation.

: Gates India conducted a technology week from 16th September to 20th September at different locations of its top end users likeJCB, Ashok Leyland, John Deere, Caterpillar, M&M and CNH. During these meetings, the Gates global experts teamed up with local application and technical engineers to arrive at solutions to customers’ product issues. Gates presented the technological advancements in motion technology in line with its vision of being partner of choice for its customers.

As a truly global supplier, Gates is working with JCB to benchmark its machines to reach same aesthetics, performance and reliability levels as anywhere in the world by keeping local conditions in mind .Progressive improvement in FPM, hydraulic cleanliness levels and prototyping capability to support new global platforms were discussed and is under implementation.

, was reserved to allow interaction between Gates Team and executive team of Ashok Leyland, Leyland Deere and CAT at Chennai
. Latest technology in rigid tubing, quick lock and flexible and compact design features in hose assembly were discussed at length. Gates is present directly or through its distribution at these customers and strengthening of ties through direct participation were discussed to improve the quality, speed and performance of the hydraulic system.

: A day long Technology day was conducted at Mahindra & Mahindra
in Mahindra Research Valley, Chennai
. In addition to presentations and exhibition of Automotive technologies, some technologies on industrial side were also presented. Breakout sessions were conducted to discuss specific issues and possible solutions in line to the latest in technological advancements. Both Gates Global as well as India team were a part of this Integrated Technology Day. Around 240 technical employees of M&M participated and increased their knowledge on Gates technologies. The seminar presentations included ECVT for GIO, Hot oil belt, electrical water pumps, belt-tensioners/idlers synchronization, engine hose, clamps, hose & Tubing technological advancements.

were spent at customer plants of Eicher Motors, Pithampur, JCB Talegaon and MVML, Chakan
where Gates team ‘walk-around’ and shared feedback with customers. Discussion at Eicher Motors expanded from AID, hot oil belt to start stop for smaller tonnage vehicle to power steering applications. Gates will offer system efficiencies analysis and will partner with them on new technology fronts (QuickLok, Sentry IQ, and tubing). Gates plans to strengthen its presence in Pune were shared and was welcomed by customers.
On 20th Sept 2013
, automotive expert team visited Tata Motors, Pune
and Industrial expert team visited CNH, Pithampur
to conduct a technology introduction workshop. While discussions at Tata Motors were centered around QMT, AID and Start Stop for low horse power engines, Gates superiority on products, new technologies, applications and capabilities were shared at CNH with team from sourcing, design, and product support. CNH put forth their expectations of Gates in the field of Technology, Product assurance and cost competitiveness. Opportunity in farm equipments as well as construction equipment were discussed in details and path forward agreed.
