Basic Purpose and function:

To manage all technical considerations between the Customer and Gates Product Development and be the interface between Product Development and the Customer, in conjunction with Gates Business Managers and Systems Engineering.

As the technical support manager for the Customer, the incumbent will be required to work with the Customer and Gates Program Managers on all new commercial projects, offering technical input, solutions and developing and maintaining standards for GAPQP deliverables.

As the technical support manager for the System Engineering, the incumbent will be required to develop and manage product performance data to support application models. Involvement with Conceptual Development with the customer on strategic innovative projects. Lead advance studies/research projects in support of new technology development or innovation.

Co-ordinate with Gates Program managers on all customer related issues, including Design Verification Programs, technical support with the customer, lab testing and prototyping. Manages projects within budgetary targets and agreed timescales in compliance with both ISO/IATF & Development standards.

Establishes and maintains a multi-disciplinary team approach for all projects.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Manage design product line data and develop product data for application models. ?
  • Create and maintain tools that enable to optimize solutions to customers protecting product integrity. ?
  • Commercialization of new products. ?
  • Develop product standards for APQP deliverables to ensure product team consistency across all APQP projects. ?
  • Responsible for DFMEA and Belts Reports ?
  • Support technical training internally and externally. ?
  • Acts as a SME in commercialization team, participating in APQP functions and being the key technical interface with the customer.

Required Qualifications:?

  • Degree in Industrial engineering or related discipline. ?
  • Experience in similar role during more than 2 years ?
  • Fluent English, FCE at least. ?
  • Catalan and Spanish spoken and written.

Required Skills: ?

  • Strong Analytical skills in math and science with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. ?
  • Ability to operate independently within strategic direction. ?
  • Strong Problem solving skills. ?
  • Knowledge of quality tools: DOE, DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC, 8D. ?
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. ?
  • Experience with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Experience with Minitab or other statistical software. ?
  • Strong peer leadership skills / able to effectively lead cross functional teams. ?
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
  • Flexible to work in different environments: office, lab, production shop floor (safeties in place will have to be followed).

Others: ?

  • Function as an individual contributor with no formal management responsibilities. ?
  • Must be able to work in R&D, testing or manufacturing environment.
  • Travel 25% may be required, frequent travel within Europe to visit customers and participate in meetings within Gates locations. ?
  • Occasional travel to Asia and North America to review Global Development activities. ?
  • In the periods where the intensive work schedule is in place, the incumbent will have to assure the meeting assistance with other regions out of it.
