POSITION SUMMARY: The Geomarket Sales Manager’s primary responsibility is to ensure sales budgets and objectives are achieved in the Geomarket, thus positively impacting the financial performance of the region. It is expected this will be accomplished through the use of sales tools and policies provided by the Company and by maintaining and motivating an effective sales force. Responsible for developing and maintaining sound customer and prospect relationships and possesses an overall awareness of activities within the region that affects or could potentially affect Gates ability to sell product in the marketplace. Contributes to meet the profitability goals through the implementation of product pricing and profit strategies for assigned markets. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: List the essential functions that are core to this position and represent at least 5% of the incumbent’s time. Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below. 1 Meet established sales quotas and revenue goals to ensure region meets assigned sales budgets and expense controls. Log individual opportunities won, account activity and customer contact info within Salesforce.com. 2 Research customer needs and develop application of products and services in an effective manner to determine market strategies and goals for each product and service. 3 Research and develop lists of potential customers. 4 Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments and that effect target markets. 5 Establish and maintain customer contacts that lead to sales. 6 Maintain an effective communication path with the customer to ensure sales opportunities for products. 7 Make regular sales calls to develop relationships and follow up on leads. 8 Develop and maintain long and short range sales and marketing plans. 9 Maintain awareness of strategic plans and procedures to coordinate market plans. 10 Manage the sales team reporting directly to you in an efficient and business oriented manner so the company gets ‘best in class’ customer’s representation and exposure to market. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises activities of sales, and account management teams QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Ideally Bachelor’s Degree • 5+ years of related experience REQUIRED SKILLS: • Must be a self-starter who is motivated to plan and manage customer needs. • Excellent oral and written communication skills including formal presentation skills before both small and large groups. • Demonstrated ability in problem solving with special emphasis on closing the sale. • Effective territory management • Effective use of pre-call planning techniques • A demonstrable capacity to keep abreast of new technology trends and how they would apply to real world projects. • Ability to communicate openly, honestly and constructively and treat all customers with dignity and respect. • Constantly lifts, carries or otherwise moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds when stocking supply room and store shelves. • Frequently bends, stoops, climbs ladders and crouches on a regular basis when stocking supply room and store shelves. • Ability to drive long distances for extended periods of time. • Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Ability to make decisions within established guidelines, policies and budgets. • Travel required for this position is 50% - 70%. Other (travel, working conditions unusual work schedules) While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
