QUESTION
How can the timing belt tension be incorrect if the drive is equipped with an automatic tensioner?
ANSWER
There are a number of reasons for this and some of them include: 1. The automatic tensioner may have been installed and set up incorrectly (never take shortcuts with this procedure). 2. The installation bolt may have been tightened incorrectly. 3. The engine might not have been at ambient temperature during the installation. 4. The sprockets or tensioners might have been worn, damaged or contaminated. 5. An old belt might have been refitted. Never re-install an old belt.
