SBDS 5: Occasionally, I find a stitch or seam on a timing belt. Can this cause any problems?

QUESTION
Occasionally, I find a stitch or seam on a timing belt. Can this cause any problems?
ANSWER
Don't worry. The stitch is part of the production process. It is used to ensure a uniform bond on the jacket at vulcanisation. Once the belt is vulcanised, the seam (stitch) doesn't serve any other purpose. These threads or stitches will not influence the performance of the belt in any way.
