Bell New President of The Gates Rubber Company

Denver – Tomkins plc announced the appointment of Richard Bell as President of The Gates Rubber Company.  In addition to his new role, he will maintain his previous responsibilities as president of Gates Global Power Transmission Division.

In his new role, Richard Bell is responsible for all operations of The Gates Rubber Company.  A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, Mr. Bell joined Gates in 1987 with the Uniroyal acquisition.  He held various assignments at Gates Australia Pty Ltd and Gates GmbH in Aachen, Germany.  In 1990, he relocated to Belgium and became Vice President of the Power Transmission Division.  In 1996, he moved to the U.S. as Senior Vice President, Power Transmission Operations, North America, and in May 1997 assumed responsibilities as the Group President of the Global Power Transmission Division.  In May of this year, he took on the additional responsibilities as President of The Gates Rubber Company.

In an address to all Gates global associates, Mr. Bell stated, “Our thrust going forward is to focus on growth.  Good, sustainable, organic growth driven by new technology is the healthiest for any company.”

The management change at Gates is a result of Tomkins desire to get closer to their businesses and flatten the organization.

The Gates Rubber Company is a leading manufacturer of belts, hose and hydraulic products for a wide range of automotive, agricultural and industrial applications.
