ISO/TS 16949 accreditation

Since March 23, 2001 all Gates European Power Transmission (PT) factories  located in Balsareny (Spain), Erembodegem (Belgium), Nevers (France), Aachen (Germany) and Dumfries (Scotland) are certified to the ISO/TS 16949 Technical Specification.  The ISO/TS 16949 Technical Specification is based on the ISO 9001:1994 standard and defines the quality system requirements which have to be met by the automotive suppliers.

In a very recent past European automotive suppliers had to meet different standards such as VDA6.1 (German car industry), EAQF94 (French car industry), AVSQ94 (Italian car industry) and QS-9000 (Chrysler, Ford and General Motors) if they supplied to these various customers.  These standards issued at a national level are now replaced by the ISO/TS 16949 Technical Specification.  An automotive supplier to all these customers only needs this one certificate, reducing the amount of audits.

The ISO/TS 16949 assessment includes all major criteria of a company's quality and management system.  Gates Europe's ISO/TS 16949 certificate is valid until the end of 2003. In the meantime, surveillance audits are carried out every six months by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd.
