Gates Acquires Eifeler Maschinenbau (EMB) GmbH

Gates Corporation is pleased to announce the acquisition of Eifeler Maschinenbau GmbH (EMB), a division of Heitag Beteiligung GmbH.  The transaction was completed July 1, 2005, and adds EMB to the Worldwide Fluid Power Division of Gates Corporation.

With over 50 years of history, EMB is a world-class manufacturer of hydraulic tube connection systems for a variety of applications.  The company is headquartered in Euskirchen, Germany and has subsidiary operations in Spain and China

Gates Corporation is a diversified manufacturer of automotive and industrial products and systems components with manufacturing and distribution operations in 20 countries.

“As a leading manufacturer with a long tradition of quality, commitment to its customers and innovation, EMB is a natural addition to the Gates Fluid Power family.  The acquisition creates new opportunities for Gates in Europe as well as in China and extends our range of leak-free port-to-port solutions,” said Francois Hincker, vice president, Fluid Power Division, Gates Europe.

“This will generate significant synergies for both partners on many levels, including:  sales and marketing, new product development and integrated hydraulic solutions.  EMB will gain access to the extensive resources and markets of this global leader in innovative and reliable hydraulic fluid power solutions,” commented Heiner Schmitz, managing director of EMB.

Gates Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tomkins plc of London, England. Tomkins has annual turnover of 4.4 billion Euros and is publicly traded on the London and New York stock exchanges. Tomkins has market and technical leadership across two global businesses: Industrial and Automotive as well as Building Products.
