Gates launches brand new line of torsional vibration dampers

Gates, a world leading manufacturer of belt drive components, is pleased to announce an expansion of its range of accessory belt drive products: with the addition of OE equivalent DriveAlign® Torsional Vibration Dampers, Gates offers the automotive aftermarket the necessary components for a complete overhaul of the accessory belt drive system.

Gates is currently offering the independent aftermarket 47 references of Torsional Vibration Dampers (TVD’s) for serpentine drives, covering the most important replacement needs. Crankshaft TVD’s are designed to reduce vibration and noise in the engine resulting in increased engine component life. In fact, noise and vibration containment leads to smoother and more comfortable driving conditions.

However, after a certain period of time the harsh operating conditions inevitably affect the dampening device. Therefore, Gates recommends always checking the TVD when replacing a multi-ribbed belt. A TVD which is old and worn out cannot properly damp vibrations from the crankshaft and too much vibration can eventually cause damage to numerous engine and belt drive components. Often engine problems are misdiagnosed to be belt related while in fact a damaged TVD might be the real problem.

With this addition to its product range, Gates wants to offer mechanics the necessary elements for a complete overhaul of the accessory belt drive system. Hereto, Gates also offers multi-ribbed belts, tensioners, idlers and complete replacement kits. All information and application data on Gates Micro-V® XF multi-ribbed belts, DriveAlign® tensioners, idlers and torsional vibration dampers can be found online at www.gatesautocat.com.
