Gates provided Swedish teachers in-depth timing belt training sessions

Erembodegem – At the annual workshop of car mechanic schools in the South of Sweden (Nov. 1st) Gates provided in-depth timing belt training sessions.  The teachers appreciated the technical information and practical examples very much and will pass on the expertise to their students.

Every fall, the car mechanic schools in the South of Sweden organise a joint workshop on several subjects.  This year, the workshop was organised by Klippans Gymnasieskola in Ljungbyhed.  Gates was invited to pass on its expertise in drive systems via a technical training on timing belts.  Stefan Sôderberg, District Sales Manager for Gates Nordic and Baltic Countries, gave two training sessions for in total 30 enthusiastic teachers.

The training sessions included an informative session on timing belts, belt inspection procedures and fault diagnosis and a discussion about timing belt replacement schedules. Vehicle types and engines that need specific caution got extra attention.  The teachers also learned how careless handling of belts and incorrect tensions at installation could play critical roles in engine failure, with expensive consequences for the vehicle owner.

The success was huge.  Christer Svensson, professional teacher at the Nordenbergschool in Olofström testifies: “Although I have many years of experience in the business, the training provided additional value with an in-depth overview of the changes in timing belt drives and the importance of correct installation and precise tension setting.   In combination with practical and hands-on details and examples, we got all information required to pass on the expertise to our students.”
