Gates awarded “TecDoc Certified Data Supplier” status

Dumfries - With the TecDoc update 04/2005, Gates has been awarded “Tecdoc Certified Data Supplier” status.  This achievement is the result of the company’s continuous efforts to bring extensive and high-quality application data.

All Gates belt drive system and cooling system products are included in the TecDoc database.  This information system provides the automotive aftermarket with updated and comprehensive data for identifying and ordering spare parts.  In every quarter TecDoc evaluates all data supplied by the manufacturers according to clearly defined criteria. The results of this evaluation are reported to the parts manufacturers to ensure a continuous improvement in data quality.  TecDoc awards the quality seal ‘TecDoc Certified Data Supplier’ to all suppliers that have fulfilled the evaluation criteria exceptionally well.  With the TecDoc update 04/2005, Gates has been awarded “Certified Data Supplier” status.

“The recognition as “Certified Data Supplier” is for Gates an important achievement and proof of the quality of our application data,” says Chris Van Craenenbroeck, Gates’ Database and Cataloguing Manager.  “Providing up-to-date application data has always been a priority for Gates.  And as the TecDoc data format is becoming more and more a standard in Europe and is used by other companies to integrate the data in their systems, the importance of creating information to that specific data format has increased.  Hence, additional efforts are being done to continuously improve our application data to comply with the format”, he continues.

TecDoc includes Gates timing belts, multi-ribbed belts, belt kits, tensioners, V-belts, coolant hose, hose clamps, thermostats and radiator caps.  With the introduction of the new Micro-V® XF multi-ribbed belt programme for example, Gates made sure the application data was available through TecDoc right from product launch.  With the information currently available in the database, Gates provides products for 99% of the German car park.
