Will a belt ever break at the point where the cords are joined together?
It is a popular misconception that the cords are joined together to form a belt. In fact, individual belts are cut from a broad, continuous, 'cylinder' called a slab. The cord is spiraled from one end of the slab to the other. After vulcanisation, the slab is cut into belts. So, there is no 'join' per belt.
