QUESTION
The belt diagrams shown on the timing belt and timing kit box labels, both feature a 'T' symbol. What does it mean?
ANSWER
The 'T' symbol, which points towards a specific point on the belt span, indicates where the tension must be checked with the Gates STT-1. When using the STT-1, a 'T' symbol on its own means the belt part number must be input on the STT-1 device (latest STT-1 chip version 006). If the 'T' symbol is accompanied by a 4-digit code then this code must be input on the device in place of the belt part number. Do not forget that after installing the belt, the engine must be rotated at least two revolutions before the tension is checked.
